Single-particle decomposition of nuclear surface diffuseness

چکیده

Abstract Nuclear surface diffuseness reflects spectroscopic information near the Fermi level. I propose a way to decompose into single-particle (s.p.) contributions in quantitative manner. Systematic behavior of neutron-rich even–even O, Ca, Ni, Sn, and Pb isotopes is analyzed with phenomenological mean-field approach. The role s.p. wave functions level explored: nodeless orbits form sharp nuclear surface, while nodal contribute diffusing surface.
